From Complex Design to Finished Part
Why “done-in-one” machining delivers superior accuracy, finish, and speed to market.
The primary advantage of 5-axis machining is the ability to complete a complex part in a single operation or any part that needs work on multiple sides of the work piece. This “done-in-one” process eliminates the need for multiple setups, which drastically reduces the risk of error that can accumulate with each re-fixturing. This makes it the ideal solution for parts with contoured surfaces, angled holes, and undercuts, such as medical implants, aerospace components, and impellers, ensuring every feature is perfectly aligned.

Medical ManufacturingFrom a customer perspective, my 5+ years in ordering from JPM Advanced Manufacturing has been an outstanding experience. As a buyer of both turnkey and subcontract machined components, consistency, quality, and communication are vital to our operations, and JPM delivers well on all three facets.
Parts we receive are produced to spec, with a clear attention to detail that instills a confidence that each new purchase order will be completed accurately and within lead time. They have demonstrated flexibility in support of production ramps when we have needed to adjust schedules or implement a rev change, mid-run.
What sets JPM apart, however, is the strength of their customer service, which is exceptionally thorough and communicative, keeping us informed every step of the way. They proactively address questions and concerns in a timely manner, and it is clear the group takes ownership and pride in the customer relationship, all of which makes a huge difference.
JPM is a trusted business partner for us. From prototype runs to full-scale production, it is nice to have a local and reliable source to meet our needs.

Telecom Infrastructure Manufacturing5-Axis Machining FAQs
What is the main benefit of 5-axis vs. 3-axis?
The primary benefit is machining complex shapes in a single setup. This improves accuracy by eliminating re-fixturing errors and increases efficiency, resulting in faster lead times for intricate parts.
Is 5-axis machining more expensive?
While the technology is more advanced, it can be more cost-effective for complex parts by reducing setup time and the need for custom fixtures, ultimately lowering the total cost per part on high-volume runs.
What parts are ideal for 5-axis machining?
Parts with features on multiple faces, complex curves, and angled holes are ideal. This includes components for the medical, aerospace, and semiconductor industries, like turbine blades and complex housings.
